Spring Update 2024

Hiya babes, you alright? It's me, your favourite 𝕺𝖇𝖏𝖊𝖈𝖙.

Well, my oh my! - it has been a busy couple months, so let me give you the Scalding Tea! I think we'll start by discussing House of Damnation's values and how they have been woven into our new logo.

A group shot of drag queens. On the left is Evilyn Carnate (pronounced: Evil-In, Car-nate) in a gothic red and black ballgown, holding a black clutch handbag. In the middle is Rhianna Rocket, wearing a pink sequined leotard with feathers on the shoulders and hip, holding a beverage in a tall glass. On the right is Object, wearing a dominatrix catsuit with PVC gloves and corset, holding a small black handbag.

We Give A D.A.M.N

At House of Damnation, we give a DAMN! So let's school you on what that actually means:

D  is for ᴅɪʟɪɢᴇɴᴄᴇ

We are attentive to the needs of those around us.

At the centre of the summoning circle is our tagline, written in the language of the demons - "There's one at the door, and there's room for one more" because we will always accommodate those in need.

A  is for ᴀᴜᴛʜᴇɴᴛɪᴄ

We are open and honest in all that we do.

A summoning circle is binding, meaning that the demons are under our control and cannot be dishonest whilst bound by its power. In the same way, our word is our bond, and we will not commit to something without being sure we can deliver.

M  is for ᴍᴀɢɴᴀɴɪᴍᴏᴜꜱ

Magnanimous – We have courage to do the right thing.

A Dara Celtic Knot lies at the heart of our logo, a symbol inspired by old oak trees, which are commonly associated with courage (e.g. heart of oak,) its interlacing lines also represent our Celtic roots.

N  is for ɴᴇᴜᴛʀᴀʟ

We seek to remain impartial, advocating for the good of the many.

Our logo is circular to represent the equality we strive to achieve, whilst our main text ("House of Damnation") is central to show that we remain neutral in all we do (we do not lean left or right, we aim to do what's best for the community we serve.)

We really do hope that you appreciate the new logo and the meanings within its design, it's taken a lot of time and thought for us to reach a decision of what House Of Damnation stands for and our aims within our community. Please let me know your thoughts in the comments below or through our socials.

Caz's Diner

In other news, on Saturday 23rd March we were at Hawkin's Arms, Probus, for a one-of-a-kind event, Caz's Diner. An experience similar to Karen's Diner, but with the aim of raising money for a 7 year old girl called Bonnie, who was diagnosed with an aggresive form of bone cancer just before Christmas 2023.

We are both over the moon and lost for words, as we helped to raise over £10,000 for Bonnie's family at the event, and to see so many people come together to raise money for this beautiful little girl, was enough to bring all of our hardened queens to tears.

Bonnie's story (as told by Bonnie's mum) is a difficult one to listen to, but we would encourage you to give it a go and if you can afford to donate something, please feel free to do so. Every single penny counts and if we can help them out even further, then that would be amazing!

Bonnie's Journey - Gofundme

We would also like to say a massive thanks to Plymouth-based drag queens, Mandy Anne Ket and Felicia Blueball, who volunteered their time to make this event happen. You both truly made it a night to remember and the team at House of Damnation is so greatful.

Sending our love and best wishes to Bonnie and her family.

Unusual Sightings

On top of all that drag, we are working hellish behinds off to bring you lots of new events, projects and workshops in the near future. Our next big event is Strut The Plank, a pirate-themed after party at The Stannary on Penryn Campus, tickets are on sale now through Eventbrite for £10 per person (25% off for students), plus a small booking fee (click the image below for link to tickets).

Please keep your eye out on our social media (which we are starting to populate slowly) and through our Unusual Sightings page for future updates and events.

Right that's me done, so I'm signing off to go and have a well-deserved, flaming-hot bath!

Forever your favourite,
